Department of Anatomy and Physiology
Luhansk State Medical University was originally located in Luhansk but had to relocate to Rivne following the Russian occupation.
The contact with Luhansk State Medical University came through our website. Our project leader Dimitrij Leporskij got then in personal contact with Dr Olena Skriabina. She showed sincere interest in humane education and wanted to put an end to the experiments left from the USSR times. She believes that: “The use of computer models, simulations, and other alternative methods can provide more ethical, effective, and cost-efficient solutions for the educational process. This will help reduce animal suffering and promote the development of humane technologies.”
The agreement with the Department of Anatomy and Physiology was signed on 4th July 2025. The Department received a laptop, a multimedia projector and several simulation programs and films on DVD. According to the agreement, 88 frogs and 67 rats will be saved from experiments in fields of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology each year. For example, microcircular disorders in inflammation were studies in frogs and hypoxia in rats. These practices will be ended by 1st September 2025.
Dr Olena Skriabina with the signed agreement.
