In Eastern Europe, there is great potential to replace animal experiments in higher education with animal-free teaching methods. In this way, animal lives can be saved with relatively simple means. Many university teachers are open to modern, computer-based teaching methods. In most cases, there is just a lack of information and funding. We are helping on both levels.
Since 2008, we have signed contracts with 61 departments in 19 cities in Ukraine. We donated films and computer programmes as well as hardware such as laptops and projectors to the universities. In return, they pledged not to conduct any harmful animal use in the respective courses.
In total, more than 35,000 vertebrates such as rats, frogs, rabbits, dogs and cats as well as over 15,000 invertebrates such as insects and crustaceans are no longer killed each year thanks to our project.
