Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
The vice-rector (vice-president) for science and educational work Ihor Dvulyk of the Stepan Gzhytskyi National University of Veterinary Medicine, learned about our project from our website. After contacting our project partner Dimitrij Leporskij, he expressed a strong interest and deeply valued the opportunities for implementing alternative methods in the training of veterinary medicine professionals as outlined in our project.
Ihor Dvulyk proposed the transition of two departments: the Department of Normal and Pathological Physiology and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.
The agreements with both departments were signed on 20th April 2025. At the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, so far 168 frogs and 216 white mice at been used and killed for the training of students per year. The experiments involved studying the effects of various drugs such as adrenaline, nicotine, ethyl alcohol, acids, formalin and others. This will be stopped from 1st September 2025.
The departments received from DAAE a laptop, a multi-media projector and several simulation programs and films, as well as further discs from InterNICHE.
