Department of Ichthyology and Zoology
Professor Nataliia Hrynyevych, Head of the Department of Ichthyology and Zoology of the Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University (BNAU) learned about our project through our website and L’viv Veterinary University.
She wrote: “As a higher education institution that plays a significant role in shaping ethical awareness and fostering a more responsible society, we believe that the implementation of appropriate alternatives will not only help save animal lives but also improve the quality of education through the use of modern technologies. The introduction of humane teaching methods will enable our students to develop an understanding of the need to protect animals and implement the key principles of sustainable development in Ukraine.”
The current curriculum included anatomical studies of various organs, primarily from fish but also from frogs. For this purpose, approximately 300 fish and 40 frogs were killed each year. This practice will be discontinued as of 1st September 2025.
The agreement was signed on 2nd April 2025. The department received a laptop, a multimedia projector, and several simulation programs.
Professor Hrynyevych expressed sincere gratitude for the equipment provided. These resources will support the replacement of experiments that have remained since Soviet times.
