Film about humane education

film 03The main issue in the countries of the former Soviet Union is a lack of information. A 36-minute film aims to close this gap.

„Humane education in countries of the former Soviet Union” is the title of the video film that challenges the traditional view that animal experiments and the use of animals are an indispensable part of education. Many university teachers in these countries are unaware of the possibilities of modern, animal-free teaching methods.

The film shows the positive changes that have taken place in the recent past in several former Soviet countries. Examples of university lecturers in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus who have replaced animal use with modern teaching methods such as computer simulations, educational films, and models are meant to inspire other professors to reconsider the traditional approach of practical courses.

The film is a joint project of the Russian animal rights organization VITA, InterNICHE Ukraine, and Doctors Against Animal Experiments. It is being distributed to several hundred universities across the countries of the former Soviet Union.

The costs of around €8,000 were covered by Doctors Against Animal Experiments.
