Department of Biotechnical Systems
Project leader Dimitrij Leporskij visited six new interested departments in Kharkiv, Melitopol, Simferopol, Ternopil, and Odessa in early 2012 to demonstrate non-animal teaching methods. All of the university teachers he visited were willing to refrain from animal use and animal killings in their curriculum and to switch to non-animal teaching methods.
The agreements were signed in April 2012. The teachers committed to refraining from all animal use and animal killings in their respective courses starting with the new semester on 1st September 2012.

At the Department of Biotechnical Systems at Ternopil National Technical University, 287 rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and frogs were previously killed annually to demonstrate the functions of nerves, blood vessels, and blood to students. These experiments will now be permanently replaced by humane teaching methods.
Control visit
The control visit on 31 January 2012, confirmed that all donated teaching materials were in use and that all animal experiments had been discontinued. The university teachers were very pleased with the change. The virtual experiments have increased students' interest in the subject matter. Another advantage is that the experiments can be repeated as often as required without harming animals, which increases the learning effect for the students.
