L'viv Polytechnic National University
Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology
In August 2008, we provided the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the L'viv National Polytechnic University with technical equipment. By purchasing a laptop, a laser printer, a rat model and some computer programs, 225 frogs are saved from being decapitated with scissors for pharmacological and physiological experiments every year.

The equipment was purchased in a local store so that the service and warranty could be utilised locally.
Control visit
In January 2009, we reviewed the use of the equipment we had provided in August 2008. In the meantime, lecturer Veronika Chervetsova had prepared a new textbook. For the first time, there is a detailed description in Ukrainian of how to use the most important free computer programmes for pharmacology and physiology as well as the rat model ‘Koken Rat’. The textbook can also serve as a source of inspiration for other university teachers.
Students in L'viv are now learning pharmacology using a computer programme.
