Following the lecture and presentation tour by project leader Dimitrij Leporskij and InterNICHE coordinator Nick Jukes through Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in May 2012, Dimitrij returned to both Central Asian countries in May 2014. During the four-week trip, he gave presentations at four universities in Kyrgyzstan and two in Uzbekistan. As a result, three agreements were signed on the spot. Some of the teaching materials were delivered directly; additional materials were sent later by mail.
At the Medical School in Osh, the 2012 presentations were met with huge interest. After Dimitrij’s renewed presentation, the agreement was signed on May 23, 2014. Every year, 500 frogs, 100 rats, 20 rabbits, and 80 mice can now be spared annually from agonizing experiments such as oxygen deprivation, overheating, anaphylactic shock, and the standard experiments on decapitated frogs.
